![]() About Us
From its very beginning, Seven Acres was designed to provide a warm, caring and religious atmosphere for its residents. Seven Acres traces its historic beginnings to 1943 when leaders in the Houston Jewish community recognized the need for a home for the Jewish aged and purchased a small house on Branard Street that would accommodate 14 residents. With its success came growth and by 1954, a new facility was built on Chimney Rock Road to accommodate 31 residents. Three more expansions in five years brought the Home’s capacity to 98. In 1977, Seven Acres Jewish Home for the Aged opened its doors at 6200 North Braeswood Boulevard, our current home.
Today, Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services is located on the Pauline Sterne Wolff Campus adjacent to The Medallion Jewish Assisted Living Residence. With a capacity for 290 residents, Seven Acres provides the most modern psycho-social and medical services to residents and elderly clients living in the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Seven Acres is the largest long-term care facility in Houston and contains one of the most outstanding certified Alzheimer’s Units in the country in the Alexander-Greenberg Building. It is the only Jewish nursing facility serving the Texas Gulf Coast and is a not for profit, non-sectarian, certified and licensed Medicaid, Medicare accredited, and private pay facility. Through its medical affiliation with Geriatric Associates of America, its superb nursing personnel, an ancillary staff of over 300 and the caring attention of hundreds of volunteers, Seven Acres provides its residents the most comprehensive, personalized care and services available. |
