Seven Acres Therapy Sets Patients on the Path to Recovery

Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services offers comprehensive outpatient therapy in addition to their distinguished inpatient programs.

The outpatient program is tailored for community members and residents who have been discharged from skilled nursing and would like to continue their rehabilitation at Seven Acres due to their comfort with the staff and satisfaction with the therapy they’ve received.

Dr. Amir Tariq, Director of Rehabilitation, who leads his team through Select Rehabilitation, a company specializing in clinical care and consulting services, recognized a need for the outpatient program.

“It was a service we hadn’t previously offered at the facility, one that I have experience with and have implemented elsewhere,” Dr. Tariq explained.

Introducing outpatient therapy is a way to offer an on-going benefit to the community and the residents that live at Seven Acres.

Eva Fackeldey came to Seven Acres to recuperate after having an accident at another local assisted living facility.

“I entered the door and it fell on me,” said Fackeldey. “It landed on my arm and hit my head.” It was a mess, and I lost consciousness for a minute.”

Fackeldey was rushed to the hospital and was there for 6 days.

Her daughter, Susan Eshet, recalled meeting Marsha Cayton, CEO of Seven Acres and The Medallion Jewish Assisted Living Residence during a visit to the organization the previous year, so she decided to give her a call.

“I called Marsha and told her I didn’t know what to do,” Eshet said. “Marsha said, ‘Let me help you, bring her here.’ So I brought her to Seven Acres, and the care has been wonderful.”

While at Seven Acres, Fackeldey suffered a hip injury after reaching to turn off the light in her room. Although the injury added more time to her plan of care, because she was at Seven Acres her injuries were quickly addressed.

Dr. Chisom Ogbata, her dedicated therapist, works with her most days to support her recovery.

“I’ve been working with Eva for over a month now,” said Dr. Ogbata. “She used to be in a lot of pain, but now she’s walking all around the building.”

“Dr. Ogbata is wonderful, she really understands me,” said Fackeldey. “If I say I can do a little more, she encourages me to keep going. But if I say I’m done, she respects that. She’s very understanding.”

“I focused on building her trust and she is so motivated now,” Dr. Ogbata said.

Thanks to coordinated care and therapy, Fackeldey is regaining strength so she can return to what she sees as her greater purpose, supporting her charity, The Cinderella-Cinderfella Project.

“We help kids who might not have the means to attend prom by providing everything they need, from formal wear to whatever they need for the night,” she explained. “If there are funds left over, we use them to offer scholarships or cover other important needs.”

Founded in 1999, The Cinderella-Cinderfella Project has been a beacon of hope and transformation for high school students in Fort Bend County. What began as a simple idea has grown into a life-changing opportunity for more than 1,200 young men and women.

To apply for support, each student must submit an essay that highlights their personal journey, allowing them to share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations.

“They tell me what they want to be when they grow up, what their home life is like, and then we make it happen,” said founder Fackeldey.

Fackeldey is grateful for Seven Acres staff and is happy to be feeling much better and remains optimistic about the future. She’s eager to get back to making a difference.

“I can’t wait to be involved with the charity again,” she said. “That’s where my heart is.”
